Laying the Foundation
A successful open-concept space relies on a unified flooring foundation to connect living and dining areas naturally. To set the tone, Kayla recommended Portercraft European White Oak in Sirocco.
The wide-plank construction and soft grain of the European White Oak bring airy warmth and elegance to the entire main level. Running the light oak continuously beneath the fluted accent columns into the dining area visually expands the floor plan while offering durable performance for daily living.
Crafting a Focal Point
Framed by two stately windows, the new living room fireplace serves as the central anchor of the home. Our fireplace installation team built a floor-to-ceiling stone facade using Eldorado Fieldledge stone, creating rich texture and rustic, earthy variations.
Key custom details complete the look:
- Stoll Bar Iron Doors: Custom dark iron doors enclose the cozy gas flame, providing structural contrast against the organic stone.
- Indiana Limestone Hearth: A heavy, custom-cut hearth bench in Silver Buff for grounding elegance at the base.
- Oak Box Mantel: A rich wood mantel ties directly back to the warm undertones of the new hardwood floors.
Customizing the Furniture
To complement the updates, our furniture designer, Robert, selected pieces that blend tactile comfort with structural strength.
In the main living space, dark leather seating is anchored by Hammary round end tables, adding clean curves that balance the strong vertical lines of the stone fireplace wall. Just steps away in the dining area, the Riverside dining set pairs a sturdy concrete-finish tabletop with rustic turned-wooden legs. Upholstered nailhead dining chairs offer refined comfort, creating a welcoming spot for family dinners and weekend entertaining.
