Proudly serving the Rockford community since 1930
Founded in 1930 as a stone fabrication shop, Benson Stone Company is now a 5th-generation family business. Our company has grown, with the purchase of the old Rockford Standard Furniture building, to become a regional shopping destination. Our impressive showroom is housed within the historic landmark, with its original hardwood floors and massive structural timbers. The Benson Family
Our family business is a longstanding fixture of the Rockford community, and we’re proud to call this place home since 1930. When M. Howard first opened shop back then, he relied on common-sense values. He believed that by providing quality craftsmanship at an affordable price, his family would have the recipe for lasting success. We’re glad to say that he was right.

1890’s
Rockford Standard Furniture
Our current showroom is housed in the historic Rockford Standard furniture factory, built in the late 1800’s. This beautiful building stands today as a testament to solid craftsmanship.
1930’s
Benson Cut Stone Co.
M. Howard Benson (left) founded Benson Cut Stone Co with his father in 1930, at the very start of the Great Depression. He was a serious and hardworking man, pictured here next to towering blocks of quarried Indiana limestone.

Benny’s First Day
This adorable photo was taken on the first day that Kim brought little Benny into the store. Since then, our family’s Golden Retriever has starred in dozens of commercials and become one of the most famous dogs in Rockford!
