Not only do granite countertops add an upscale feel to your kitchen or bathroom, but they also are incredibly durable and scratch-resistant, and last for decades. When properly sealed, they are stain-resistant and won’t absorb liquids.
At Benson Stone in Rockford, IL, granite and other types of natural and fabricated stone are our business. We fabricate our own stone in a building right next door to our showroom, and we can give you expert advice when you’re making your decision about what type of stone you will use in your kitchen or bathroom.
We have a wide selection of colors and styles, and a very broad price range. Our salespeople know just about everything there is to know about granite, and our professional installers will make it look just right in your home.
Granite countertop maintenance
Granite countertops require sealant to keep water from penetrating the stone. When you buy granite countertops at Benson Stone, we apply a 15-year sealant before bringing the product into your home. When you need to reapply the sealant, simply use a cloth to apply a thin amount, wait 20 minutes, then add another thin coat. To maintain the life of the sealer, do not use aggressive cleaners on your countertops. A small amount of dish soap and water will work very well to keep your countertops clean and looking good.
What to expect
You’ll start by walking into the Benson Stone showroom and looking around. If you’re planning to do a major kitchen or bathroom remodel, we will connect you with our kitchen and bath designers. If you just want new countertops, our salespeople will be able to help you decide which type of product you want (it’s helpful if you have a drawing of your space). They will also take you to the building next door to our showroom to show you the granite slabs so you can get a better idea of color. Once you decide what you want, we’ll give you a quote, and if you want to move forward, we’ll send our expert installer to your home to measure the space. Then, we’ll work on fabricating your custom countertops and schedule a time for our installers to bring your dream to life.
